Overall the faceplate and controls are fairly clean for a unit of this vintage and all knobs are original with no real deficiencies noted on the front panel. Here is a great chance to pick up a most rare vintage analog highly collectable analog bench multi-meter at a price that's hard to believe in this economy today! This meter was once used on the bench of a musical instrument /hi-fi service center for many years in a real estate property I purchased long ago. I know the only reason it was taken out of service at the time was it requires a rather unusual battery inside for proper operation and this was in the time era of the introduction of Digital Multimters and it was placed on a shelf in the back for a rainy day project and before this time could actually come. The store was closed in re-development and this meter became unused for many ,many years. The store was emptied and a good bit of the stuff went into other buildings I had designated as storage at the time where this probably sat for more then two decades without anyone looking for this meter. In cleaning out some this old stuff and making space available. I so happened to come upon this forgotten treasure once again and said to myself. I'll bet someone would really like to get their hands on this meter for their collection of vintage multi-meters, VTVM's or other older analog scientific precision test equipment. I am sharing what I know on this meter so read closely. I have looked high and low and cannot find the original probe that comes with it. This is not really a big deal and can make your own easy enough if you are knowledgeable on stuff like this. The connector is a 1/4 inch stereo male plug you will need. The rest I am sure you can figure out. I remember the complaint about the batter issue so I opened the case to see if this battery was even still in the meter and I have made a photo of the inside of this meter and the empty battery socket to share with you.

The chssis is reasonably clean inside for a unit of this age and everything looks pretty good. It would be my opinion that perhaps some calibration would be suggested to verify accuracy and establish proper operation before introducing this into Heath Kit IM 25 into anything really demanding or requiring super precision accuracy.

Above you can see the Battery Socket in the right rear as shown on the pic above in need of a battery. I remember this was the reason the meter was removed from service again at the time because this battery was not immediately handy to be installed at the moment when needed and a Digital Multi-Meter replaced it for the duration of the shop life. This was the only known problem with the meter at the time and it has been sitting since. There are also battery holders for portable operation of the meter as seen in the upper top picture and the batteries were not installed in those so there are no real battery corrosion problems from storing it with any batteries because all batteries were removed from the unit while it was in storage for the protection of this multi-meter. 

In our observation of the current condition of the meter, we noticed someone had clipped off the ground plug on the power cord and the enclosure pieces for the top and bottom of the case are somewhat dirty and could definitely use some clean-up. There is also one rubber foot missing on the bottom of the case as we are just sharing what we found on inspecting this and photographing it for this site for sale. We try to be honest and show both the positives and negatives of a product to allow you to make an informed accurate decision and we try to price fairly with in light of any known deficiencies we might find in consideration of what you might need to do in getting the unit into mint shape again!

Overall we feel this is a very nice find and with a little time spent, you can have a very nice multi-meter for a fraction of what many vintage elctronic collecotrs are charging for these Vintage Heath Kit IM-25 Multi-Testers as preferred as a nice alternative to the old Analog Vacuum Tube Voltmeters or V.T.V.M's many are seeking.
